Nokia: will manufacture optical modules in the United States


(CercleFinance.com) – Nokia announced today that it is ‘the first telecommunications provider to manufacture broadband fiber optic modules in the United States’ under the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) program .

In partnership with Fabrinet, a world specialist in high-precision optical products, Nokia will produce its multi-speed optical modules in Fabrinet’s state-of-the-art factory in Santa Clara (California). As a reminder, optical modules are key high-tech elements for high-speed fiber networks.

Production will begin of the modules will begin in 2024. ‘We are excited to add optical modules to the list of technology solutions that will be produced here in the United States and will be available for programs like BEAD, which are so essential to reducing the digital divide,” commented Sandy Motley, president of fixed networks at Nokia.
