Not only “Squid Game”, but other Korean series such as “Gyeongseong Creature” will start their next season on Netflix in 2024.

“Squid Game” is going into its second season this year – Netflix announced that in January 2024. But the hit series is not the only format from South Korea that the streaming service is launching this year. Netflix has now presented its program with series, shows and films from the popular Asian country.

Of course, at the top is the second season of the most successful Netflix series of all time: “Squid Game”. There is no start date yet, but there are already the first pictures. Gi-Hun, played by Lee Jung-jae (51), sets out on a quest for revenge against the men behind the murderous game he got into in the first season.

Second season also for “Squid Game”-like game show

A game show that works like a real version of “Squid Game” is also getting a second season this year. In “Physical 100” 100 people compete against each other in physically challenging games. Only one person remains at the end and wins the equivalent of $240,000.

With “Zombieverse,” another action-heavy show is entering its second round. In the survival reality, candidates have to make their way through a scenario that resembles a zombie apocalypse – without being bitten.

New series from “Oldboy” maker Park Chan-wook

Two fictional series are also getting a second season: the mystery “Hellbound” and the monster horror “Gyeongseong Creature”. After the first season of “Gyeongseong Creature” took place in 1945 during the Japanese occupation, the new season jumps to contemporary Seoul.

In addition to tried-and-tested formats, Netflix also has new K-series in the pipeline for 2024. The most interesting project, at least on paper, is “Uprising”. Cult director Park Chan-wook (60), the mastermind behind films like “Oldboy” and “Frau im Nebel”, serves as co-producer and co-author on the historical drama.
