“Not thought about it” – Corona tests earned a policewoman conviction

Corona tests and confirmations caused a lot of trouble for a Carinthian police officer. She had issued test certificates without testing. After the case was exposed, the 35-year-old also asked two police students to testify that they hadn’t noticed anything. On Thursday, the woman therefore had to answer at the Klagenfurt regional court. She was sentenced to a fine of 180 daily rates of 15 euros each.

The prosecution calls this attempted provision for false testimony, and the officer did not even deny the incident in front of Judge Dietmar Wassertheurer. However, the 35-year-old was responsible for wanting to protect the police students. A colleague to whom she had issued the confirmation without a test also asked her to delete the exchanged messages on this matter. Forms marked “negative” and signedShe always carried out the antigen tests and issued the corresponding confirmations, according to the 35-year-old . She had prepared forms for this, which were already marked “negative” and her signature. These were in their compartment, only the name and the date were missing. A colleague who she knew was negative because she had previously suffered from Corona needed a test confirmation. Since she wanted to go home after a long service, she gave her the form to fill out without taking the test. The e-mail started the case I have issued a confirmation without a test. The judge asked if you couldn’t just have done a test. “Yes, but I haven’t thought about it.” The colleague also sent an email to the other colleagues in the service that there were pre-filled confirmations that could be used. After that, she had concerns that she had still tried to call the message back. That failed, the mail went out and got things rolling, and the prosecution initiated proceedings that were closed. It is not a forgery of documents because the confirmations were only intended for internal official use. However, the accused’s attempt to influence the police students led to the indictment. Police student “plunged into a conflict of conscience” Your defense lawyer requested a diversion right at the start of the negotiations. Public Prosecutor Stefan Engelbert spoke out categorically against it. The accused is a police officer: “You teach other people to tell the truth.” She also plunged the police students into a conflict of conscience. Wassertheurer rejected the requested diversion for reasons of general prevention. He saw the accusations of the prosecution as proven and imposed a fine of 2,700 euros. The defense attorney had demanded an acquittal, he wants to fight the non-final judgment.
