Notepad’s autosave feature is being tested by members of the Windows Insider Program.
Highly anticipated by users, the feature should be deployed soon.
An automatic recording for Notepad
While we recently learned of the imminent disappearance of WordPad, Microsoft announced in return new optimizations for another text editor as basic as it is popular: Notepad. After a first major update at the end of 2021, the editor will benefit from a particularly practical new feature.
Indeed, to meet a very strong demand from users, Microsoft will add an automatic recording function to Notepad. The latter is already being tested in development channels, and in the hands of users of the Windows Insider program.
The functionality is rather simple, since it allows you to automatically save the content and changes made to a project when closing it, before restoring everything when you reopen Notepad. Note that the application will save the state of the session without creating a new document.
Notepad’s autosave feature will be rolling out soon. Microsoft confirms that the latter is optional, and that it can therefore be deactivated in the settings if necessary.
