Nothing like it going – to the picturesque alpine village above Weerberg

The charming alpine village of Nonsalm is located in the open terrain under the western slopes of the Gilfert. A winter hiking trail or a fine toboggan run leads there from Weerberg.

First of all: there are no places to stop for refreshments on the Nonsalm. Instead, you can enjoy the snack you have brought with you on the toboggan – sunbathing included when the weather is nice! In Weerberg we drive west by the church with the two towers and the fire brigade and branch off – easily overlooked – at the “Zirler” bus stop or the wayside cross up left (“Hüttegglift”, “Hüttegg”, “Hausstatt”). It goes up very steeply in numerous bends, ideally you park the car at the top parking lot “P1” (approx. 1320 m) pulls upwards only moderately in the forest. It shows no major changes in direction for a long time, after the first two (of four) bends the forest becomes lighter and the tour more promising. It goes on comfortably there – one or the other short downward passage included. The very last section of the route leads into open terrain and a fabulous winter landscape. To the east in the foreground is the Gilfert with the handsome cross. The magnificent Nurpenstal runs southwards, with the Karwendel towering up behind us. Far away in the (north) west you can even see the Lechtal Alps. Two more curves and you have reached the small, enchanting alpine village of Nonsalm (1785 m).
