Apple will deploy its system in France to automatically blur sensitive photos received by your children via iMessage.

iOS 16 will bring a new security feature for parents whose children have an iPhone.

An automatic detection system made locally on your iPhone

A few months ago, Apple introduced in the United States an automatic detection system for naked photos through its iMessage instant messaging system.

iOS 16 and macOS Ventura will offer this new setting, dubbed “Message Communications Security” in France, when they are launched, which should take place between September and October next.

This new setting will only work through the Messages app, and won’t affect other messaging apps your kids may use on a daily basis like WhatsApp or Snapchat.

Recognition is done locally on the phone: no information is sent to Apple’s servers when analyzing messages to ensure respect for user privacy.

iOS hides naked photos then offers advice to children in iMessage only

To activate this device, you will first need to create a family group through iCloud and indicate the accounts of your children so that the setting can apply.

If your child receives a naked image in iMessage, it will be automatically blurred and a “View photo” button will be added just below the received message.

By clicking on it, a window will appear to give advice to your child. The latter can still ask to view the snapshot but Apple also gives him the choice not to see it or to send a message to his parents.

No information is automatically sent to the parents when the photos are received, so as not to make the children feel guilty and leave them the responsibility of what they want to consult.

Be careful however, this function will not be available with iOS 15 and you will have to update all devices to the new version once it is available.
