“Nugget”, “Fascinating environment”, “Unbearable suspense”: here is the best Apple TV+ series of the year according to spectators

December is (already) here. It’s time to take stock of the must-see productions of the year and the tops of 2023. Here are the 5 best Apple TV+ series to catch up on according to AlloCiné viewer ratings, and there’s something for everyone!

The best of 2023. Throughout the month of December, AlloCiné offers you thematic tops based on viewer ratings, to highlight the best films and series of the year and suggest some catch-up sequences.

Apple TV+ series are rather discreet but often of high quality. Like Ted Lasso, Foundation or The Morning Show. In 2023, five new series were particularly noted on the platform (now accessible in France for Canal+ subscribers), between hijacked flight, post-apocalyptic silo, wine tasting, cooking classes and impressive acting performance.

Discover the Top 5 2023 Apple TV+ series according to viewer ratings!

5th – Hijack 3.8/5

Apple TV+

Be careful, series under high voltage! Hijack tells, in real time, the hijacking of an airliner through seven episodes which alternate between the race against time of the authorities on the ground, and the events which occur on the plane between terrorists and passengers.

Among them, Idris Elba, an outstanding negotiator, tries to use his skills with the pirates to preserve his companions in misfortune. With, as a result, revelations, twists and turns and thrills that keep you in suspense until the end.

4th – The Drops of God 4/5

Apple TV+

A series on wine? Yes, and a (very) great vintage since The Drops of God is quite simply one of the best original Apple creations of the year.

Adapted from the manga by Tadashi Agi and Shu Okimoto, the 8 episodes offer us a fascinating dive into the world of oenology, while a young woman (Fleur Geffrier) must confront the “spiritual son” (Tomohisa Yamashita) of her own father to access the largest collection of wines in the world.

Legacy, hidden conflicts, family values, suspense… All the ingredients come together for a series to be consumed without moderation.

3rd – Lessons in Chemistry 4.1/5

Apple TV+

If Brie Larson did not have great success in theaters for her return as a superhero in The Marvels, she can console herself with Lessons In Chemistry, an elegant and committed gem which follows the journey, in the early 1960s, of a young scientist confronted with patriarchy and excluded from laboratories.

By finding a job as a host on a television cooking show, she will then do much more than provide recipes to her audience made up of neglected housewives. Did you say inspiring?

2nd – The Crowded Room 4.2/5

Apple TV+

“The series broke me”. Tom Holland, the latest Spider-Man in the MCU, spoke very candidly about his mental health and the most intense role of his career when The Crowded Room, inspired by the story of Billy Milligan, an American found irresponsible for his crimes in the 70s due to his dissociative identity disorder.

Very convincing in this psychologically extreme role, the actor received great support from his fans (this high rating proves it). Less of the criticism that shunned the program. It’s up to you to form your own opinion!

1st – Silo 4.2/5

Apple TV+

If you missed out on the best SF series of 2023, there’s still time to catch up! Acclaimed by critics and the public, Silo is the adaptation of the trilogy of dystopian short stories by Hugh Howey and plunges us into a post-apocalyptic future where the survivors are confined in a giant underground silo of 144 floors to escape an atmosphere that has become unbreathable.

With the obligation to comply with very strict rules intended to protect them, at the risk of being expelled. But are leaders telling the truth about what is happening outside? Start of response in the first 10 episodes as stunning as they are oppressive… while waiting for season 2!

Ranking made up of series released on Apple TV+ in 2023 and counting 150 minimum ratings. Don’t hesitate to post your notes and reviews on the pages of these series (and others), and post your own top in the comments below!
