Peretz deal fixed: Bayern get substitute keeper from Israel

After Harry Kane’s commitment lasted what felt like an eternity, FC Bayern Munich’s search for a goalkeeper is becoming as tough as chewing gum. But now the Munich authorities are reporting completion. Daniel Peretz has big dreams but will initially sit on the bench.
Bayern Munich has completed its lengthy goalkeeper search. The football record champion made Daniel Peretz’s commitment official on Friday evening. The 23-year-old Israeli comes from Maccabi Tel Aviv, according to media reports, the fee should be five million euros plus possible bonuses.
Maccabi had already announced on Thursday evening that he had reached an agreement with FC Bayern, and on Friday Peretz completed the medical check and signed a contract until 2028.
“With Daniel Peretz we are very well positioned in our goalkeeper team – for this season and for the future,” said Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, praising the “great potential” of the young keeper. Peretz spoke of “every child’s dream of being able to play for a club as big as FC Bayern.” He is “hungry for everything that comes now.”
Peretz played in his club’s 4-1 (1-1) win against Celje in the Conference League play-offs on Thursday. The national player should initially be number two in Munich behind Sven Ulreich, who is currently replacing the injured Manuel Neuer. After the search for a strong goalkeeper had turned out to be extremely difficult, Bayern had apparently made a U-turn in the goalkeeper question and looked for a replacement for Ulreich.
Bigger names had previously been traded, such as Kepa Arrizabalaga, David de Gea, Bono and Stefan Ortega. Yann Sommer (to Inter Milan) and Alexander Nübel (to VfB Stuttgart) had let the Munich team go.
