Numbers and letters: this animator who left a bitter taste for Arielle Boulin-Prat and Bertrand Renard

For several decades Arielle Boulin-Prat and Bertrand Renard have delighted fans of the show Numbers and Letters. During this long period, they have seen several hosts pass through the show, including one who did not really leave them with very good memories.

On August 19, our colleagues from Le Parisien revealed thatArielle Boulin-Prat and Bertrand Fox had been kicked out of the showNumbers and letters, in which they had served as judges for 36 and 47 years respectively. In a press release sent to AFP a few days later, they had not failed to express their anger. The two animators had thus assured to have been “forced and forced” to surrender their aprons. “We had chosen not to respond to requests from journalists, to digest this situation of rare violence”they had explained with a heavy heart.

Despite this terrible decision, Arielle Boulin-Prat and Bertrand Renard still have very good memories of their time in the cult game of France 3. In an interview with Liberation this Wednesday, October 19, they indeed confided that they regarded those years as “happiness” and “a chance”. Even if with the presenters, the two accomplices have had varying fortunes.

This host who “did not leave the best memories” to the two former judges

Between 1972 and 1989, the program Numbers and Letters was hosted by Patrice Laffont with whom it went very well. The latter never hesitated to try jokes that could sometimes ulcerate the most ardent fans of the program. After seeing Patrice Leconte’s film, Tandem, he finally decided to quit acting.”I saw myself ending up doing supermarket animations“he once confessed.

Patrice Laffont was then replaced by Max Meynier, now deceased. The host has notably experienced success with the radio program Lesrouteurs sont sympas as well as the Juste Prix on TF1. But with Arielle Boulin-Prat and Bertrand Renard, the chemistry is not felt. Without expanding too much on the subject, Liberation indicates that the animator who officiated between 1991 and 1992 “did not leave the best memory“. On January 29, 2016, in the program Behind the post on D8, the two former judges had evoked this period considering it “horrible”. Arielle and Bertrand had notably confided that according to them Max Meynier “played it personally” and forgot his co-hosts. The latter was finally replaced by Laurent Romejko, who brilliantly took over and created a real bond with Arielle Boulin-Prat and Bertrand Renard.
