Nvidia announces its powerful RTX 4000s and impressive DLSS 3.0

As we might have guessed, the Nvidia conference was an opportunity to discover the new generation of Ada Lovelace cards. Here are the first details.

Once again, Nvidia boss Jensen Huang took to the stage to pull a new next-gen GeForce graphics card out of his pocket. Ada Lovelace, the 3rd generation of RTX architecture is based on a chip engraved in 4 nm by TSMC with 76 billion transistors. Nvidia thus promises 90 TFLOPs, 200 RT FLOPs and 1400 Tensor FLOPs.

DLSS 3.0 as new technology

Beyond the cards, Huang began showcasing NVIDIA DLSS 3 technology, the next generation of Deep Learning Super Sampling. This AI-powered technology can generate full frames to massively speed up gameplay. It overcomes CPU performance limitations in games by allowing the GPU to generate full frames independently. In short, a new course to come to increase the framerate a little more. This technology will be integrated into the most popular game engines, such as Unity and Unreal Engine, and has received support from many leading game developers, with more than 35 games and applications to come.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 and 4080, stars of the conference

At the moment we don’t have many details but the first card to be presented is the RTX 4090. It is advertised as being 2 to 4 times faster than the RTX 3090 Ti depending on the game. It will be available on October 12 at 1600 dollars. Still it is necessary that it is not out of stock.

Obviously these are the words of Nvidia but it is presented as being the fastest gaming GPU in the world. In RTX games, the RTX 4090 with DLSS 3 is up to 4x faster than the last-gen RTX 3090 Ti with DLSS 2.

Nvidia also announced the RTX 4080, launching in two configurations. The RTX 4080 16 GB which has 9728 CUDA cores and 16 GB of GDDR6X memory. With DLSS 3, it is twice as fast in current games as the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and more powerful than the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti. The other model is the RTX 4080 12GB which has 7680 CUDA cores and 12GB of GDDR6X memory. With DLSS 3, it is faster than the RTX 3090 Ti.

Both RTX 4080 configurations will be available in November, with prices starting at $1199 and $899 respectively.

To sum up :

  • Nvidia RTX 4090 : Between 2 and 4 times faster than the RTX 3090 Ti. $1,600 from October 12
  • RTX4080 : 2x faster than RTX 3080 Ti and more powerful than RTX 3090 Ti. It is available in a 12GB version at $899 and a 16GB version at $1199.
