A drop that would only be for a “limited period” while the new generation of graphics cards is coming to an end?

For several weeks now, we’ve been talking to you about the drop in graphics card prices, or rather a relative return to normal after months of delusional shortages and inflation. On its official website, NVIDIA is now going in the same direction.

A drop in MSRP…

The page devoted to the purchase of Founders Edition graphics cards from the GeForce promoter has indeed been updated very recently. The changes concern the prices of certain models which show significant reductions.

Thus, the most powerful model, the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, “loses” more than 900 euros: exactly 920 euros, going from 2,249 euros at launch (a price that had never changed) to 1,329 euros today . The card is imitated by its two little sisters, the RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 Ti.

The RTX 3090 had increased by 100 euros between its launch (1,549 euros) and January 2022 (1,649 euros). It is now offered at 1,199 euros, a drop of 350 euros on its original price. The RTX 3080 Ti was priced at 1,199 euros when it was launched. It had risen to 1,269 euros last January, but is now down to 1,089 euros, a drop of 110 euros on its initial price.

… which only concerns the very top of the range

If the drop is real and not that small, it only concerns the most high-end models. On all other RTX 3000 series cards, pricing isn’t budging an inch from January, which was up from launch.

Thus, the RTX 3080 is today at 759 euros against 719 at launch (+40 euros), while the RTX 3070 Ti is trading 30 euros more than when it was released, at 649 euros instead of 619. Even increase for the RTX 3070, from 519 euros at launch to 549 euros today. Finally, the RTX 3060 has only increased by 20 euros between its launch price (419 euros) and today (439 euros).

As you can see from our screenshot above, NVIDIA is talking about a ” limited time promotional offer “. No doubt it is for the manufacturer to sell its stocks before the launch of the GeForce RTX 4000.
