According to NVIDIA, the RTX 3080 Ti offers superior performance compared to the desktop NVIDIA TITAN RTX.

In addition to the GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 3090 Ti for stationary PCs, NVIDIA completes its mobile RTX Ampere offering, again with a pair of cards. This time it is the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. Until now, the range was limited to the GeForce RTX 3080.

16 GB of GDDR6 for the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti

Unfortunately, as is often the case with mobile GPUs, the specs of the newcomers are not the subject of much unboxing. For now, NVIDIA mentions just 16GB of GDDR6 for the RTX 3080 Ti… and that’s about it.

Well, the firm still delivers some comparative results for three games, namely Control
, Borderlands 3
and Cyberpunk 2077
. The performance of the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is compared to that of the mobile RTX 2080 SUPER and GTX 1080.

For the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, no benchmark, just the following claim from the press kit: ” New GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is up to 70% faster than RTX 2070 SUPER laptops. “

Based on previous leaks, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti has a GA103S GPU, 7,424 CUDA cores and 16 GB of GDDR6 at 16 Gb / s on a 256-bit bus. Its max TGP would be around 175 W.

Logically more modest, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti would have 5,888 CUDA cores, 8 GB of GDDR6. Its TGP would be 150 W.

You will understand, apart from the 16 GB, these data are not official and therefore remain hypothetical.

One certainty, however: these two cards will be offered in laptops from 1er February. Prices will start at $ 2,499 for a machine with a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and $ 1,499 for a computer with a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti.

Update: NVIDIA has released the official specifications.

Fourth generation of Max-Q technologies

On another note, a few brief words on the fourth generation of Max-Q technologies. New features include CPU Optimizer, Rapid Core Scaling, and Battery Boost 2.0. All these technologies aim to improve ” battery efficiency, performance and life »Laptops.

For Battery Boost 2.0, NVIDIA explains that “ Now, AI controls the entire platform, finding the optimal balance between GPU and CPU power usage, battery drain, image quality, and refresh rate. And all this in real time “. As a result, we obtain more than 70% additional autonomy, according to the company.

CPU Optimizer and Rapid Core Scaling allow a better distribution of power between the GPU and the CPU, a bit like AMD’s SmartShift.
