Ewan McGregor is coming back as a “Star Wars” hero in the spring. The Obi-Wan Kenobi series has an official start date.

“Star Wars” fans were just able to enjoy the season finale of “The Book of Boba Fett”, and the next fan favorite is already in the starting blocks. The Disney+ streaming service unveiled a poster and the first air date for the new TV series Obi-Wan Kenobi. It says on Instagram“Obi-Wan Kenobi” starts on May 25th.

With “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope” celebrated its premiere on May 25, 1977, the start of the “Star Wars” saga. Alec Guinness (1914-2000) played Obi-Wan Kenobi at the time. For the new TV series, Ewan McGregor (50) slips back into the iconic role he played in the “Star Wars” prequel films. In “Episode I – The Phantom Menace” (1999), “Episode II – Attack of the Clones” (2002) and “Episode III – Revenge of the Sith” (2005) he was seen as a Jedi Master.

Hayden Christensen is also there

On the poster for the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series, McGregor is walking through a sandy desert, presumably on his exile in Tatooine. The story reportedly takes place ten years after “Episode III,” in which Obi-Wan failed to bring his best friend and apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, back from the dark side. Hayden Christensen (40) becomes Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader again in the series.
