Obi-Wan Kenobi: what does the symbol that Inquisitor Reva stands for?

Inquisitor Reva, or Third Sister, continues to feature prominently in the Kenobi series. And a key scene helps to better understand the profile of the character.

Disney+ is available in France:

It’s a fleeting scene, which probably won’t say much to those who will watch episode 3 of the series. Obi-Wan Kenobi. Fans, on the other hand, may be much more sensitive to this sequence. Towards the end of the episode, we see the very ambitious Reva, an inquisitor who intends to climb the ranks in the Empire and in her Order, dwelling on a symbol.

An emblem is indeed drawn on a wall. It is roughly inscribed elsewhere. It is not really symmetrical. The line is clumsy. Yet, Reva gives him strange attention. And the camera lingers for a long time on the face of the inquisitor, whose gaze seems to vanish in thought. This is no coincidence.

But before going any further, a caveat is in order: we will inevitably have to address plot points to develop some explanations around this logo. Also, if you’re not up to date at all, you’d better move on. If all is good for you, or spoilers have no effect on you, then the sequel is waiting for you.

The logo that we see on the wall is in the same room occupied some time earlier by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Leia in their escape. This hiding place is not trivial: it is a place of passage to evacuate novices, that is to say young people sensitive to the Force and who follow or try to follow the Jedi teaching despite the Empire Hunt.

The symbol of the Jedi

We mentioned this particular hideout on the occasion of another article, centered on the Jedi Knight, Quinlan Vos, who helps in the evacuation of novices. In other words, it’s obviously a crossing point for some survivors of the Jedi Order and their heirs — ten years have passed since the massacre of the Jedi.

This emblem, therefore, represents the Jedi Order. It is quite similar to the Rebel Alliance logo. We see a vertical point in its center, surmounted by a star, which gives the impression of seeing a lightsaber (the star then representing the splinter of the blade springing from the handle and the line the blade itself ). And on either side are wide stylized wings.

The pause that Reva observes in front of this drawing is due to the fact that the inquisitor has not always been subject to the Dark Side. The one who now answers to the name of Third Sister was once a Jedi. We do not know her career well, but it appears that she gave in to the sirens of the Galactic Empire to survive the hunt for the Jedi.

It seems that the vision of this logo brought back some memories of the past – and perhaps untold suffering. Perhaps Reva’s past will be explored a bit more in the series’ remaining three episodes. However, it is possible that all of this takes a bit of a back seat. After all, the public is only waiting for one thing: Obi-Wan Kenobi versus Darth Vader.
