OCULUS META QUEST: V39 officially announced and there are some cool new features!

After a quiet but dangerous beta release, the V39 finally arrives officially. We can only hope that the problems with applications disappearing after installing it have been resolved in this final version. Note, for those who have not followed, that following the installation of the beta, some users, including us, were deprived of games for a week or more. The reason given is that there have been account duplications Oculus and those who were touched connected, in fact, to the second which was “empty”. In short, everything is generally back to normal since, but it is a problem that could well come back. To be continued then.

To speak of nicer things, Meta has therefore just communicated on the final version of the V39 and its deployment from today. As always, don’t be in a hurry, it is possible that your helmet will not be updated immediately and that it will take several days for it to be updated. But you’re probably used to it now.

What’s new ?

  • A new environment is available: New Mountain Study
This time it’s a small studio with a view of the mountains. Meta suggests we use it to chat, read the news of the day, make video calls or even write short stories. To get there: Settings > Environments > Choose.

  • Multitasking is no longer in experimental mode.
The functionality to launch several 2D applications at the same time is therefore now accessible via the General tab of the settings menu. For applications that support multiple instances (like the Meta Quest browser), it is now possible to select the window we want to restore by clicking on the corresponding icon in the universal menu. Switching between multiple apps and returning to what we last opened was made easier. Meta warns that there will be adjustments that will be made in the coming month (clearly, there is still a hint of beta in the air).

  • File sharing is now available on iOS.
As a reminder, since V37, it is possible to synchronize photos and other files from the headset on your Android smartphone, but also to send content from it to your Quest. iPhone users will be able to do the same with this new update. To take advantage of this, make sure your Quest is turned on and Bluetooth is on. Then open a website on your phone, click on Share, choose the Oculus app then Open now, select your headset and it will automatically open in the browser when you put on your Quest.

  • The browser has changed its logo.

So be patient and leave your headset on standby for the update to install quietly. If, on the other hand, you want to try to prevent it from inviting itself, cut the Wi-Fi of the helmet before turning it off, this should greatly delay the deadline for its arrival.

If you haven’t taken the plunge yet, you can treat yourself to a Oculus Quest 2 at the house of Bakerthe Fnac, Darty Where Amazon for €349.99.
