With Horizon Home, the firm had indicated that we could, in the near future, invite friends to join us in the form of avatars, in order to spend time together, interact, watch video content or even travel from application to application. Horizon Home will accommodate up to four people simultaneously in the environments we currently know (see our article on the subject).
The developer Luboš V was able to tour the update V37, available in the Quest 2 public test channel and uncovered previously hidden features of the firmware. The feat was made possible with the help of Basti564, also developer and author of the application Oculess to do away with the connection via an account Facebook and from vrLauncher, allowing to launch various hidden functionalities of Quest.
We see there:
- Undoubtedly the next tutorial allowing to appropriate Horizon Home with the new invitation system to join a game or watch videos together;
- A system update Guardian, which follows the integration of the desk and the sofa, but now allows the walls of our play space to be virtually integrated. It could be a matter of virtually adding decorative elements such as frames or portals to the home of our friends like what is done on the platform Rift ;
- The appearance of a history of voice communications, a kind of answering machine;
- Keyboard support Apple Magic Keyboard who joins the Logitech K830 ;
- An integration still in its infancy of part of the social network Facebook, in order to follow the activities of his friends.
Through these revelations, we gradually see the realization of a desire to bring the family together in one place Horizon (Workrooms, Venues and soon Horizon worlds). Horizon Home acting as a portal to these new social applications. However, we are still awaiting information regarding the V36 and by the latter leak, it seems that we are skipping a version by going directly from the V35 to the V37 as was already the case between the V23 and the V25.
