OD: clues left by Hideo Kojima make Silent Hill fans dream

During the ceremony of Game Awards 2023Hideo Kojima was obviously present, but not to talk about Death Stranding 2. No, the Japanese designer is also developing a horror game in collaboration with Xbox Game Studioswhich is ultimately not called Overdosebut simply OD. An intriguing business name, just like its first teaser showing Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer and Udo Kier repeating the same meaningless phrase over and over again.

Of course, Hideo Kojima never does anything randomly and its teasers are dissected frame by frame by fans around the world. Many noticed the ringtone at the end of the video reminiscent of that of P.T.the playable teaser of Silent Hills canceled by Konami. Others saw a door reflecting Sophia Lillis’s eyes, the same door Kojima went through to arrive on stage at the TGA and which still recalls the decor of P.T.. But the actors’ mouths hide other clues.

Xbox Central saw four letters between Udo Kier’s lips, appearing very briefly. These letters form the word “Atami”, it is a city in the Shizuoka region. Shizuoka is written “静岡”, formed with two characters each literally meaning “Silence” and “Hill”. In English… silent Hill. Between the clues mentioned above recalling P.T. and that, the fans already imagine thatOD would only be a code name for a new game in the franchise silent Hill.

As a reminder, Hideo Kojima and Konamiwhich owns the franchise silent Hillhad not left on very good terms. The publisher fired the designer while he was finishing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, canceling his next game, Silent Hills.teased with the playable demo P.T.. Since then, Hideo has founded Kojima Productions to develop Death Stranding (available from €19.99 on Amazon, Cdiscount, there Fnac And Gamesplanet) and is now working on a sequel, in addition toOD.

SO, Hideo Kojima and Konami did they patch things up to finally create their own silent Hill so hoped for by the fans? Difficult to say at the moment, but logically, OD will be exclusive to PC and Xbox Series X|S, where Konami seems to be closer to Sony by releasing the remake of Silent Hill 2 on PC and PS5 only. And above all, the Japanese designer loves to have fun with Internet users and can easily make them go crazy, trolling his former employer in the process. At least it’s more credible thanAbandoned.
