Oktoberfest essentials: 10 accessories for the dirndl

It’s that time again – or as they say in Bavarian: “O’zapft is!”. The mugs toast, brass band music sounds and we just look sensational. The only thing missing for our perfect traditional costume style are the right accessories. Because they distinguish a visitor’s outfit from a real Bavarian girl – and of course we all want to be that (at least at the Oktoberfest). But what is the best thing to combine with a dirndl?

Oktoberfest Essentials: 10 accessories for your traditional costume

If you look at traditional costumes, you will notice that certain symbols are repeated over and over again. Floral details, such as the edelweiss, are a popular choice for belt buckles and jewelry. In general, pieces with flowers are often seen in the beer tent. The heart is also very classic, even if it can look critical when used in an inflationary manner. Also like shapes inspired by deer antlers. Those who like it less traditional can also opt for cute designs, for example with small pretzels (that’s Bavarian for pretzel).

Hair is a big topic at Oktoberfest. Elaborate braided hairstyles are a feast for the eyes, but those who have less time or talent can also help with headbands. Models trimmed with dried flowers look especially classy. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative, you can opt for velvet headbands that look just as stylish.

Our neck is adorned with a choker or a chain. Again, brooches are a beautiful and, more importantly, traditional choice. But baroque pearls also go great with the dirndl and can still be combined well after the Oktoberfest stay. You might not think of socks first, but they are of great importance in the overall composition of your traditional outfit. Just like your handbag, which is ideally decorated with a brooch.
