Oled TV: negotiations between LG Display and Samsung stalled

How the pricing table works

According to South Korean media, Samsung had signed a contract with LG Display for the supply of 2 million Oled panels during the year 2022. Samsung Electronics was about to offer a complete range of Oled televisions by adding its in-house Neural Quantum 4K/8K processor for video processing, its OTS (Object Tracking Sound) audio system and of course its Tizen operating system. The goal was to offer a complete range of Oled televisions with conventional models at the entry level and QD-Oled and Neo-Qled models at the high end, but Samsung has obviously changed its tune.

LG Display CFO Kim Sung-Hyun said negotiations with Samsung Electronics for a deal to supply Woled panels have broken down. The companies have talked a lot over the past few months, but they have not been able to reach an agreement. The arrival of Samsung Electronics on the OLED TV market would have lowered prices even further. The largest TV seller in the world has a very large sales volume and therefore bargaining leverage beyond comparison with current LG Display customers.

All is not lost, however, since according to several analysts, negotiations between the two companies could resume in the near future…
