At the beginning of March 2024, the Paris police headquarters published maps detailing the areas and periods where QR Codes will be required to travel in and around Paris during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
First of all, it is important to emphasize that each site is divided into different security perimeters for the 2024 Olympics: blue > red > black > gray (from the widest to the tightest).
The QR Code is mandatory from the red zone. “Access to this perimeter will require registration on the digital platform in order to obtain a dematerialized pass to present at the entrance to the perimeter […] except in emergency cases”, explains the Paris police headquarters.
Entry into the black zone, encompassing the organizing perimeter and the competition site, requires presenting your ticket and submitting to “palpation measures and searches of bags and luggage”. As for the gray zone, spectators will have to present their ticket again in order to access the Olympic site.
