CBS and the Recording Academy released a statement announcing the news: “After careful consideration and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and our many partners, the Recording Academy and CBS have postponed the 64th annual Grammy Awards.“

The country also recorded, this Monday, January 3, a world record of contamination with more than a million cases declared in one day. “Health and safety members of our music community, the public and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remain our top priority. Given the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant, holding the event on January 31 simply contains too many risks“, continued the organizers.

The Recording Academy and CBS, however, hope to be able to schedule the ceremony at a later date. “We look forward to celebrating ‘music’s greatest night’ at a future date, which will be announced soon“, they said in their press release.
