WHAT IS IT ABOUT :

Lubicchi lives in the middle of large chimneys whose thick smoke has always covered the sky of his city. He would like to prove to everyone that his father was telling the truth and that, beyond the clouds, there are stars. One Halloween night, the little chimney sweep meets Poupelle, a funny creature with whom he decides to set off to explore the sky.

A FAIRY TALE

For his very first film as a director, Yusuke Hirota chose to adapt the children’s book Poupelle et la ville sans ciel, which sold more than 700,000 copies after its release in 2016, and signed Akihiro Nishino to whom we owe so the scenario of On the other side of the sky. Combining 2D and 3D, the film stands out from traditional Japanese cinema by combining a sometimes dark aesthetic with vibrant colors in a fantastic universe.

Presented in the official selection of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2022, this tale designed to bring children and their parents together has a starry cast for the French dubbing. We find Chloé Berthier (who regularly dubs Amy Adams, Kirsten Dunst and Kate Bosworth), Eric Métayer, without forgetting Philippe Katerine who lends her voice to Poupelle, an adorable trash man as funny as it is moving.

On the other side of the sky, in cinemas August 17, 2022.
