On the Tauplitzalm – Styrian ski tourer fell to his death

The search for a missing ski tourer on the Tauplitzalm in the Styrian district of Liezen ended tragically. The 53-year-old from Graz could only be rescued dead in the early hours of the morning.

The 53-year-old from Graz set off alone on a ski tour in the Dead Mountains at around 11 a.m. on Tuesday. When he did not return as agreed, his son made an emergency call at around 6:30 p.m. The areas of the Großer Tragel, Rosskogel and Almkogel were immediately searched. The 53-year-old was located in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Tragically, he could only be found dead. The 53-year-old may have slipped over a snowfield. Investigations into the cause of the accident are in full swing. It is currently known that the 53-year-old may have slipped across a snowfield and suffered fatal injuries. The ski tourer was rescued using the Libelle Steiermark police helicopter. The relatives were looked after by the crisis intervention team. Major deployment for rescue workers The Tauplitz and Bad Mitterndorf mountain rescue teams were deployed with 35 personnel and an avalanche and search dog squad, a crew from the Christophorus 14 emergency medical helicopter, a crew from the Libelle FLIR Salzburg police helicopter, a crew from the Libelle Steiermark police helicopter and Two Alpine police officers from the Liezen Alpine task force were involved.
