OThere’s All Something In Us From Diane Segard. Or close to us. A mother, a neighbour, a colleague, a friend… This actress, unknown to the battalion when she started on TikTok and Instagram at the end of 2019, managed to create a kind of nanoplanet populated mainly by women, whimsical and neurotic, whose tribulations are watched every day by 1.2 million subscribers.
We meet there, among others, Elo, adviser to Credit A, who masters English like an MMA fighter painting on silk (“Merry Noel, Mrs van de Burne!” »); Pascale, rough formwork manager to whom we do not do it (“Me, you don’t piss on me while making sure it’s raining”);Tata Malbo, a single temp, who spits her life lessons like smoke in the face of her 2, 8, and 18-year-old nieces (“We don’t care about the baccalaureate! Do you need degrees to be happy? »). Without forgetting the iconic “mother of Garance”, determined that her 4-year-old daughter should integrate HEC as soon as possible. For more than three years, Diane Segard, who describes herself “more ostrich than peacock”, therefore embodies on social networks all the women of life; the control freaks and those who have dropped everything, the bourgeoises and the burst pockets, the shivering lovers and the dented hearts. Like Lison Daniel, Laura Felpin and the Wigs of Thomas, whose work she admires, the 30-year-old placed the creation of characters at the center of the game at a time when the “I” is now the norm since the stand-up explosion.
A gallery of earthy portraits, often at bay sometimes, in total resonance with the spirit of the times. Through these sketches of a few minutes posted each day, written on her phone and which she can repeat while sorting the laundry (“I often talk to myself”she says), this mother of two young children tells us about medical deserts, public services that are going down the drain, burnt-out moms (but also dumped for a young girl, #divorcey), the excesses of influencers (and of a certain program on C8), of the dehumanized business world, of love by interposed screen, of beauticians and Pôle emploi advisers who raise morale at half mast.
Graduated with a master’s degree in business law and a degree in history, Diane Segard spent ten years in theater and belatedly assumed her vocation. Social networks have brought her artistic freedom and an audience that she had not imagined, at her beginnings, after a move and in full confinement. “ Basically, I found myself all alone in a small town where I didn’t know anyone, in Vendée. I had left my squad. So I started the videos a bit out of necessity, to avoid depression,” she tells the World. A few years later, she is preparing for the break-in tour of her first show, Parries, which is already sold out (from April 28 to May 17, 2024), to his surprise.
