Apple would have, once again, delayed the launch of its VR / AR headset. According to Bloomberg, it is not the shortage of components that is the concern, but development problems related to hardware.
Mark Gurman has struck again, one of the best-known analysts / leakers has announced that Apple’s augmented reality and virtual reality headset will not be announced at WWDC next June. Apple would have chosen to delay, once again, the launch of its new product.
According to discussions that remain confidential, development challenges related to overheating, cameras and software have made it more difficult to maintain the initial schedule. The announcement would take place in 2022 for a commercial launch in 2023.
At the end of 2021, according to Bloomberg, the manufacturer would rely on three uses to promote its product: communication, video games and media consultation.
Undoubtedly top of the range
Anyway, this helmet will therefore be oriented towards augmented reality and virtual reality, and will be compatible with a “wide set of applications”, with the aim of succeeding in replacing the iPhone within ten years.
To achieve these ends, this first helmet will carry two 4K OLED screens provided by Sony. On the performance side, it should carry a chip as powerful as the Apple M1 which already equips its MacBooks and Mac mini.
