One driver drunk – turning maneuver led to accident: two injured

During a turning maneuver on Friday afternoon on the Drautalstraße (B 100), two vehicles collided near the Töplitsch power plant, driven by a man (26) from the Lienz district and a 24-year-old from the Villach district. The vehicle drivers had to be taken to the LKH Villach, and the 24-year-old was also found to be moderately intoxicated.

The East Tyrolean wanted to turn his vehicle around 4:50 p.m. near the Töplitsch power plant, so he first stopped at a bus stop and made sure that no vehicle was coming. Then, according to his own statements, he set the indicator and wanted to turn in the direction of Villach. At that moment, a 24-year-old man from the Villach district steered his car in the direction of Spittal and collided with the 26-year-old’s car. The collision caused both drivers to be injured to an undetermined degree and, after first aid, were brought to the Villach regional hospital by the emergency services. Both cars were totaled. An alcohol test carried out revealed that the 24-year-old was moderately intoxicated. His driver’s license was taken away from him and he is also reported. Leaked vehicle oils and coolants were bound by the FF Töplitsch, which was deployed with 23 emergency services and 3 vehicles.
