one of the best throwback games with surprises

Last summer, SEGA quickly expressed itself on the future of one of its most cult licenses, Sonic. In addition to new games, the Japanese publisher has not hidden its desire to produce remakes and remasters. And that’s good, because very recently, a rumor implied that a well-loved episode could be reworked for more modern machines. The confirmation took place during the first State of Play of 2024 which recaps upcoming PS5 games.

A remaster for a very cool Sonic

Despite ups and downs, Sonic crosses generations and remains SEGA’s most important mascot. Mario’s competitor at Nintendo who moves at high speed with his beautiful white and red sneakers. In addition to season 3 of the Netflix Sonic Prime series, the third film or a DLC for Frontiers, the publisher will therefore launch a remaster of… Generations. An opus that stood out since they combined the 2D approach and the 3D aspect of the series, and which was well received.

If you are one of those who liked it, prepare yourself for the release of Sonic X Shadow Generations on current platforms. A version which is not just a simple remaster as it notably adds Shadow as a playable character with a dedicated single-player campaign. This version will also include new levels that we already see in the very first trailer, and bonus content. While waiting to learn more, know that it will be released on PS5 and elsewhere for fall 2024.
