The Apple Car project may well have to suffer from the troubles of one of its main officials, Ulrich Kranz, who must now face the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Autonomous car giants like Tesla could fear Apple’s interference in their field of activity. A fear that since must be calmed. Because in addition to the absence of announcement as to progress on the file, one of its main officials, Ulrich Kranz, must now pass under the caudine forks of the American administration.

Ulrich Kranz has answers to give

Before joining the Cupertino company to advance the Apple Car, the businessman was known to be the boss of the autonomous car company Canoo. And it is on these years spent as CEO that the American financial regulator is currently looking, according to information which has just been issued by Bloomberg.

Indeed, the SEC suspects Ulrich Kranz of having incorrectly declared the amount of remuneration he had received in this position. The financial policeman also believes that during his tenure he had given unrealistic revenue projections for the self-driving car company, which he left for Apple in 2021.

His future at Apple in danger?

Charges which should not endanger his freedom, but which could on the other hand make the pursuit of his career within the company founded by Steve Jobs difficult. Because one of the objectives of the Securities and Exchange Commission in this case is to prevent him in the future from occupying an executive position within a company listed on the stock exchange – which Apple obviously is.

Canoo hasn’t moved at the expected pace since leaving two years ago, although she did pull off a major coup a month ago when she landed a contract with NASA. The latter concerns the supply of three electric vans, which will be used next year as part of the Artemis mission to transport the crew to the launch site. The Apple Car for its part is at a standstill, with promises far from being kept for the moment.
