OnePlus 10 Pro: Warp Charge will probably not make Xiaomi tremble

Unsurprisingly, the OnePlus 10 Pro is said to offer an improved warp charge. But don’t expect 100 watt quick charging, as we know it from Xiaomi, for example.

  • The OnePlus 10 Pro should be able to be charged with up to 80 watts
  • The smartphone could be presented in January

OnePlus has been in the news lately with its OnePlus 10 Pro. Recently, several leaks about the smartphone appeared. One of them revealed the alleged new design with a camera module that hugs the frame like the Samsung Galaxy S21. After another rumor revolved around a likely market launch as part of CES 2022 in January next year, the data sheet of the smartphone has now also leaked with an interesting detail.

OnePlus prefers to take it slow, doesn’t it?

Digital Chat Station has published an overview of the main features of the OnePlus 10 Pro on Weibo. According to the leaker, the OnePlus 10 Pro should have a wired fast charge of 80 W and a wireless fast charge of 50 W.

This is significantly stronger than the Warp Charge 65T (65 watts) of the OnePlus 9 Pro, which OnePlus launched with the OnePlus 8T in October 2020. But it’s still quite a long way from the 125 watts that Oppo calls, or even the 200 watts from Xiaomi.

In contrast to competitors such as the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, which, like the Oppo Find X4 Pro, should have quick charging with at least 120 W, the OnePlus 10 Pro would at least offer a better balance between fast charging and battery life. This tightrope walk isn’t new as OnePlus typically prefers a solution that is less extreme and more focused on optimization.

If the OnePlus 10 Pro is equipped with Warp Charge 80, this will also be the case for the base model of the OnePlus 10. And that’s probably not going to be the case with Xiaomi, as the company will reserve 120W fast charging for the Pro models of its next flagship.

The Chinese leaker also revealed more details on the rest of the specs. The smartphone is said to be equipped with a 6.7-inch 1440p LTPO screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a punch hole in the upper left corner. The camera is said to consist of a 48 MP main sensor, a 50 MP ultra wide angle camera, an 8 MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom and a 32 MP selfie camera on the front.

Unsurprisingly, the smartphone is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. There was no new information about RAM and memory configurations in the leak, but earlier rumors predicted 8 GB / 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128 GB / 256 GB UFS 3.1 memory. The rumors also say that the battery should be 5000 mAh.

However, should the rumor about the new Warp Charge come true, the OnePlus 10 Pro would be a bit worse equipped than some of its competitors, at least in this area. Let’s just wait and see if OnePlus shoots itself in the foot with its decision on charging speed. Just as a reminder: For you, the battery life of a smartphone is more important than the quick charge function – you just revealed that to us in our survey of the week!

How do you think about it? Do you think that OnePlus is too far behind the competition with the OnePlus 10 Pro and 80 Watt Warp Charge?
