OnePlus charges with 150 watts – from 0 to 100 in 17 minutes!

OnePlus is presenting the new OnePlus 10 Pro 5G at MWC 2022, but is also already looking to the future: the next OnePlus cell phone is due in the second quarter – and it will be able to be charged faster than any other smartphone on the market!

  • Rumors about a OnePlus smartphone with 150 watt charging have now been confirmed
  • “SuperVOOC” technology should not damage the battery
  • Smartphone is already coming in the second quarter of 2022

While we eagerly await the OnePlus 10 Pro for Germany (coming at the end of March), a leak about a new OnePlus handset made the rounds. Leaker Digital Chat Station rumored that the phone will be incredibly fast charging and will come with a new MediaTek SoC.

In the meantime, OnePlus has not only confirmed this rumor, but also disclosed further information about the “SuperVOOC” technology. As is well known, it is also used in the Oppo Find X5 Pro and fully charges the smartphone with 80 watts in 30 minutes. But that’s even lame compared to what OnePlus plans to launch next.

150 watts: Smartphone charged to 50 percent in 5 minutes

As part of a virtual press event, the company revealed that a OnePlus smartphone with SuperVOOC, which charges with a full 150 watts, will be released in the next quarter! This means that the planer is 50 percent charged within five minutes. The complete charging process should only take 17 minutes for the 4,500 mAh battery.

At the same time, the Chinese company explained that the still nameless OnePlus smartphone is being charged very gently. It is said to be able to withstand 1,600 charging cycles and then still have a capacity of 80 percent of the original value. That would be twice as much as the competition!

Exciting: In addition to the proprietary charging level that Oppo and OnePlus share, other charging standards are also supported. OnePlus explicitly mentions PPS, USB PD and the Quick Charge protocols. Not much more is revealed about the upcoming smartphone, at least not yet. But according to the leak mentioned above, the device could come with the MediaTek Dimensity 8100.

According to rumors, a 6.7-inch FHD+ panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz will also be installed. There is also a 50 MP sensor on the back, which is said to be the IMX 766 from Sony, which is also in the Oppo Find X5.

SuperVOOC will bring us very fast charging smartphones from both OnePlus and Oppo in the future. In addition, there is the information that Realme is also entering the market with a 150-watt charger. It is certainly no coincidence that Realme is also based under the BBK umbrella, as are OnePlus and Oppo!
