Online crime – obtained loans with a false identity

Cybercrime is constantly increasing: in Klagenfurt, a 36-year-old man obtained online loans using fake payslips and wage slips, and in Wolfsberg, a 55-year-old was cheated of thousands of euros by online scammers.

According to the police, a 55-year-old from the Wolfsberg district was encouraged by advertising on a social network to register on a fraudulent investment platform. “The woman paid an initial fee and was subsequently persuaded to make two more payments by a putative analyst,” investigators said. When the woman was no longer able to make any further transfers, she filed a complaint. Meanwhile, a 36-year-old from Klagenfurt was found out on suspicion of commercial fraud. “The man confesses to having falsified his debit card, payslips and wage slips because of his poor credit rating and to having presented them to companies and banks to get loans,” said a police officer and false identity 30 online financing inquiries, two of which resulted in a loan agreement and damage in the low five-digit euro amount.
