Online shop expert – “People have had to leave their comfort zone”

The shops are closed, the parcel deliverers are in constant stress! Online trading gained enormous importance in the corona pandemic. The development is not reversed either. “New consumers who come in during the lockdown phases also stay,” says Bernhard Aichinger from E-Conomix in Wels and Linz.

Bernhard Aichinger founded E-Conomix eleven years ago, and the internet agency with locations in Wels and Linz now has more than 65 employees. As a specialist in online shops, the company has experienced another boost since the corona pandemic. “In the lockdown phases, many are almost forced to order something online. People have had to leave their original comfort zone and have found that it works quite well and is casual, ”says Aichinger. What trends does the online retail specialist identify across industries? “The average amount customers spend online has increased. High-quality and expensive products are now being bought online with greater ease, “says the 33-year-old, who runs E-Conomix together with Michael Raberger. Manufacturers’ inhibition thresholds In competition with giants like Amazon, domestic online providers are under enormous pressure: “They know that in the end it is service and price that count. When it comes to money, friendship ends. ”Manufacturers’ inhibitions when it comes to direct sales of their products are falling. You are running your own online shops more and more often. For brick-and-mortar retail, this means a further worsening of the situation.
