“Only Murders in the Building” will get a 3rd season. Thankfully, the hit Disney+ series still has a few questions left to answer from Season 2!
- “Only Murders in the Building” closed another murder case in season 2.
- The excitement continues in Season 3, but there are still loose ends left from Season 2.
- Will these storylines be continued?
The finale of “Only Murders in the Building” Season 2 answered the question of Bunny Folger’s killer satisfactorily and with many twists. The subsequent time warp, which included another murder and a celebrity guest star, brought the season to a well-rounded and exciting conclusion – didn’t it?
In retrospect, there are several storylines in season 2 that were started or at least hinted at, but never finished. Whether these stories will be continued in Season 3 or simply swept under the rug cannot yet be said. Netzwelt summarizes what wasn’t answered in Season 2.
Nina is gone
After Bunny retires, Nina Lin takes over the Arconia. She quickly becomes the main suspect in Bunny’s murder case, since Nina was pursuing her very own plans with the Arconia and therefore clashed with Bunny when she suddenly didn’t want to retire after all.
Nina’s plan was to renovate the Arconia and to build a huge glass box on the roof of the building. However, Nina reconsidered this plan over the course of the season and then suddenly disappeared from the plot completely. Nina was mainly used as a false lead, but it was particularly noticeable in the finale that she was apparently completely forgotten after it became clear that she had nothing to do with Bunny’s death.
The sixth avenue slasher
Podcast fan Marv shares his killer theory in “Hello, Darkness!” Episode 8 of Season 2. In doing so, he draws on his immense knowledge of true crime and suspects the Sixth Avenue slasher who was up to mischief in New York in the early 2000s.
Marv is ultimately wrong, but it’s odd that the Sixth Avenue slasher is just introduced in passing without being relevant to the plot. It can therefore not be ruled out that this serial killer will play an even bigger role in Season 3.
Amy Schumer
In Season 2, a new running gag was brewing when Sting’s apartment at the Arconia found a new tenant: Amy Schumer. The comedienne also played herself in the series, but Schumer disappeared from the series after two episodes. A new star may move into Arconia in season 3, or Schumer may stay for another season. Still, it’s odd that Schumer was seemingly completely irrelevant to Season 2.
Season 3 of “Only Murders in the Building” may be released in spring 2023 in the US on Hulu and in Germany on Disney+. Then we not only learn who murdered Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd), but also what happened in the one year the series skipped.
