Sat.1 catches up with “Open the fridge!” another cooking show in the program. The show is based on the hit show “Fridge Wars”.
Sat.1 starts a new cooking show. On April 7, “Open the fridge! – The duel of the professional chefs” celebrates its premiere. The show is based on the hit Canadian show Fridge Wars. Professional chef Alexander Kumptner (38) and “The Taste 2021” finalist Hanna Reder compete against changing professional chef duos.
The task is to conjure up delicious dishes with the ingredients from the refrigerators of completely strange households. Finally, the owner of the refrigerator awards the points for the meals. Whoever has collected the most points at the end of the show is the winner.

The show is moderated by Ruth Moschner (45). The challengers of the six episodes include Alexander Herrmann (50), Cornelia Poletto (50), Johann Lafer (64), Viktoria Fuchs (32), Max Strohe (40), Ali Güngörmüs (45), Richard Rauch (36 ), Lisa Angermann (36), Robin Pietsch (33), Frank Buchholz (54), Pia-Engel Nixon (43) and Christoph Rüffer (48).
“Ordering food or going shopping again, that’s easy. But opening the fridge and cooking something really good out of it, that’s the real challenge,” says Hanna Reder, looking forward to her new job. “If we can give the viewers ideas for their own everyday cooking on this show and thus also inspire them not to just throw away food, that would be great!”
