Opening Paris: the attempt to rebound is cut short, again

THE TREND

(Boursier.com) — The CAC 40 is definitely having a hard time bouncing back! After the failed attempt at closing yesterday, the Parisian index started in the green at the opening on Wednesday but faltered over the minutes to approach the red line at 9:30 a.m. at 6,210 points. Yesterday, the Parisian index lined up a 4th consecutive session of decline.

The prospect of central bank rate hikes, whatever the outcome on the economies, continues to weigh on investor sentiment. Klaas Knot and Madis Mueller, members of the ECB’s Governing Council, both said a three-quarter point hike in policy rates should at least be discussed in September while Bundesbank President Joachim Nagel said advocated for quick action in the face of soaring prices.

German inflation has indeed reached its highest level in nearly 50 years, at 8.8%. The figures for consumer prices in France and for the whole of the euro zone will be published in the morning.

RISING VALUES

Eiffage (+1% to 88.46 Euros): APRR’s EBITDA increased by 192.9 million euros (+23%) and represented 1,031.6 million euros, or 76.5% of the turnover business excluding construction, compared to 75.3% in the 1st half of 2021. Net income increased by €126.2 million to €534.9 million, an increase of 30.9% compared to the 1st half of the year 2021.

Manitou (+0.60% to 17 Euros) announces the acquisition of the intellectual property of the company ATN Platforms, which specializes in the design and assembly of lifting platforms. Manitou has acquired, as part of a receivership procedure before the Commercial Court of Agen, all the intellectual property of the French company ATN Platforms, which specializes in the design of lifting platforms, in particular vertical platforms.

Renault (+3.65% to 29.20 Euros): The Chinese car manufacturer Geely Automobile Holdings and an oil group could become reference shareholder of the future entity dedicated to heat engines. According to two sources close to the diamond group quoted by ‘Reuters’, Renault would retain 40% of the ‘historic’ division, Geely would enter at the same level, and the oil company at 20%. Nissan would not take part in it. “The final diagram is not locked and other tracks exist for the partner manufacturers”, however specified one of the sources.

FALLING VALUES

bioMerieux (-1.30% to 95.40 Euros): Contributory current operating income reached 322 million euros, or nearly 19.4% of sales at mid-year. EBITDA reached €414 million at the end of the first half, or 24.9% of revenue, down 12% compared to €471 million over the same period of 2021. This reduction is the reflecting the drop in contributive current operating income. The sales growth target is adjusted upwards from -6% to -3% at constant scope and exchange rates (previously from -7% to -3%). Contributory current operating income should, at current exchange rates, be between €580 million and €625 million, slightly up on the previous guidance. As a reminder, the contributive current operating income expected for the financial year, announced in March between 530 and 610 million euros corresponds, according to the new presentation of the income statement, to a guidance of 542 to 622 million euros. This upward adjustment to contributive current operating income reflects current performance and favorable currency effects.

Engie (-0.50% to 12.06 Euros): The Russian group Gazprom announced on Tuesday that it would completely suspend its gas deliveries from Thursday “due to a disagreement on the application of the contracts”… The Gazprom’s announcement comes on the eve of a three-day interruption in Russian gas deliveries to Europe with the scheduled closure for maintenance, from August 31 to September 2, of the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline, which supplies Europe with Russian natural gas passing under the Baltic Sea. Gazprom said in a statement “that Engie failed to make full payment for gas deliveries made in July”.
