Oppo would attack Xiaomi with its own smartphone that recharges in 5 minutes

Xiaomi may soon no longer be alone in the field of 300W charging. That’s according to leaker Digital Chat Station, whose source claims that Oppo is also working on its own technology to charge a compatible smartphone in just 5 minutes. From there to know if we will benefit from it in France, it is another story.

In recent years, there has been a real race for fast charging among manufacturers. In the last 5 months alone, the record has been broken no less than 3 times. First we had the Redmi Note 12 and its 210W charge, followed by the Realme GT Neo 5 and its 240W charge, whose record did not last long. In effect, Xiaomi has once again won with its 300W chargewhich would theoretically be able to charge a smartphone in just 5 minutes.

Something to give ideas to the competition. Indeed, the Chinese giant could soon be caught up by one of its counterparts, namely Oppo. On Weibo, the leaker Digital Chat Station claims that the latter is in the process of develop its own 300 W charging technology. If the 5 minutes of recharging are not mentioned, it is easy to imagine that this is the objective that Oppo seeks to achieve in order to stand up to its rival.

Soon a smartphone that recharges in 5 minutes at Oppo?

Concretely, Oppo would be in the process of ” customize “ its 2220/2230 mAh 15C batteries to make them compatible with 300W charging. In the West, therefore, we would end up with a battery equivalent to 4600 mAh, which would therefore probably not beat the current record for autonomy. That being said, Digital Chat Station only talks about the battery. However, it is the whole ecosystem that must be reviewed to allow such a fast charge.

Charging chip, port, chargers and design, these are indeed all these elements that will have to be optimized to take full advantage of the technology’s potential. This is one of the reasons why the Xiaomi smartphone which currently holds the record is not yet marketed to the general public. Not to mention the fact that we may never see the color of it in Francerumors claiming that Oppo is preparing to withdraw from the market.
