Since December 20, 2023, subscribers to an Orange or Sosh mobile plan can convert their traditional SIM card into an eSIM more easily and quickly. Until now, you had to go through one of the operator’s mobile applications, or directly through its online customer area. A maneuver that is sometimes complicated due to the number of submenus to navigate.

However, Orange has just greatly simplify the procedure, at least for iPhone owners. In fact and for several days, customers can switch to an eSIM simply by going through the Settings on their smartphone (without having to go through the methods previously mentioned).

To do this, go to the Settings of your iPhone, then once in the category Cellular datayou should find a new tab Convert to eSIMjust below the SIM card PIN tab.

By clicking on Convert to eSIM, the user will then be prompted to connect with their Sosh or Orange identifier. From this portal, the user is asked to pay the fees required to switch to eSIM, which amount to one ten euros.

Let us point out that this shortcut is actually based on a functionality introduced by Apple, namely the eSIM Quick Transfer. As the Apple brand explains on its official website, this functionality allows you “transfer the SIM card from your old iPhone to your new iPhone without contacting your operator. Let us add that this new feature requires having your iPhone eSIM compatible (iPhone XS, XS Max, XR or later model) and being at least running iOS 17.2.

As a reminder, Samsung was the first Android manufacturer to add the possibility of transforming its SIM card into an eSIM directly from its smartphone. However, this service is only available on Galaxy smartphones equipped with One UI 5.1.
