People do things differently when things are always tidy

Whether it’s a closet or a closet, everyone probably knows those corners in the apartment where there’s far too much stuff flying around loose and it always looks untidy and confusing – even though you try to store the little things accurately. In addition to regular cleaning out, proper storage also helps to end the chaos. The Tetris trick could help – boxes are the basis.

The Tetris trick: Stack boxes and stow away small items

For the Tetris trick, transparent boxes with lids in different sizes are best suited. Tip: When buying, make sure to buy them from one brand if possible, then the different sizes can be easily stacked on top of each other.

“But you can still see the chaos through the transparent boxes,” you might think. Partly true. But the advantage is that you can immediately see what is stored in the boxes. Sure, you could label each box, but then it would be difficult if you wanted to add something new or take something else out.

First, sort the odds and ends by topic

Before you start putting the little things into the boxes, lay everything out in front of you – yes, even if the living room floor is completely covered with stuff. And then you start sorting everything into categories and putting the matching pieces in a pile. This can be, for example, classic decoration – or you can differentiate between the respective seasons, depending on how detailed you want to create order.

Pre-sorting is used to select the correct box size. Sometimes you are surprised by how many candles you have at home. Since it’s worth storing empty boxes in the basement, you can buy a batch before sorting. It’s worth paying attention to the different heights of the different sizes, especially when stacking them in the cupboard. Experience has shown that you usually buy additional boxes. However, make sure that the boxes have the right dimensions for your closet or back side; you should measure these beforehand.

The boxes can be stacked as desired

Once you have pre-sorted your piles, you can start putting the contents into the appropriate boxes. When pre-sorting, some parts can fall completely out of order, so it’s worth creating a kind of “leftover box” first. Because the contents are visible, you can still always see what’s floating around in the box.

Once everything has been put away, it’s time to stack the boxes to save as much space as possible. The principle applies: the things that you don’t need very often go to the bottom. And then things are happily stacked. The only important thing is that the contents of the boxes are as visible as possible so that it is easier for you to search. Build your stacks of boxes in the way you can use them most effectively. Despite the visible contents, a cupboard or room with boxes looks much tidier.

Collect everything you no longer need in a “gift box”.

And above all, you save space. You can then expand the Tetris trick as you wish. Whether you want to organize your cellar again, the gazebo or simply the wardrobe. The transparent boxes are ideal, for example, for storing shoes and bags at the bottom of the closet. And the trick can even be used in the kitchen. Everyone knows the problem with flying storage container lids, small rubber bands, clips or whatever other bits and bobs are lying around in the kitchen. These can also be neatly stored in small boxes and stacked in cupboards.

It is an advantage if you go through your boxes at regular intervals so that they stay tidy. You can create a “gift box” for everything that you no longer use but is too good to throw away. You put all these things in there and see if you can maybe give some of them away.
