PARIS, Jan 30 (Reuters) – The board of directors of Orpea ORP.PA, a group implicated this week in a book on the management of nursing homes in France, announced on Sunday the dismissal of its managing director, Yves Le Masne. , and the appointment of a new CEO.

This new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Philippe Charrier, appointed with immediate effect, “will have the task of ensuring, under the control of the board (of directors), that best practices are applied throughout the company and to shed full light on the allegations made,” Orpea said in a statement.

A graduate of HEC, Philippe Charrier had been non-executive chairman of the board of directors of Orpea since March 2017.

In a book-investigation called “Les Fossoyeurs and published this week, Orpea, which claims to be “one of the main world players in the comprehensive care of dependency, with a network of 1,156 establishments for 116,514 beds”, is accused of acts of negligence and of imposing restrictions on the residents of his establishments.

The group announced on Wednesday the creation of an independent mission to assess the accusations against it, while reaffirming “that at no time has the management of the group put in place any system to orchestrate the practices which are blamed on him”.

The new CEO Philippe Charrier “will rely in particular on the evaluation missions entrusted by the board of directors to two independent firms in the process of being appointed”, said Orpea in its press release.

Philippe Charrier had been Managing Director of Mayoly Spindler Pharmaceutical Laboratories since 2019.
