Orpea: employees on strike to claim a profit-sharing bonus

On May 17, management informed the unions of its decision, motivated by the financial consequences of the health crisis. After a state-sponsored administrative investigation revealed “serious malfunctionsin the management of establishments, the government has announced that it intends to require Orpea to reimburse public grants presumed to have been diverted from their purposes. A judicial inquiry has also been opened by the Nanterre prosecutor’s office.

The CGT also rises against this decision of the company, “even as the group declares a profit of 62.5 million euros for the year 2021“. She emphasizes that the profit-sharing bonus “usually represents a sum of around 750 euros“, calling “to the renewable strike or walkouts from June 3“.

For its part, Orpea made a commitment on May 17 to pay its employees a PEPA bonus (exceptional bonus for purchasing power) in the near future. “Management has since indicated that the individual amount of this PEPA bonus will be €1,000 for an employee (full-time basis and according to the terms and conditions that will be defined by future legislative texts)“, specifies Orpea which also indicates the opening of a negotiation at the beginning of June with a view to the signing of an amendment to the existing profit-sharing agreement, aimed at introducing one or more extra-financial criteria to avoid in the future that only the annual financial results determine the amount of profit-sharing paid to employees. “Our objective is for this amendment to be in place by June 30 so that it is applicable from the 2022 financial year.“, specifies Orpea.
