Orpea: the group loses half its value in 3 sessions

The group of retirement homes records a third session of carnage on the Paris stock exchange.

After losing 16% on Monday, it had lost 20% on Tuesday and one hour from closing on Wednesday it gave up more than 18%. The volumes are very substantial because we are approaching 5% of the capital traded in today’s session alone.

Orpea has thus lost half of its valuation in the space of 72 hours in the wake of the publication of a book which overwhelms the group on its practices. In the middle of the election campaign, the government has taken up the subject and the turbulence has only just begun.

Even if the management denies the accusations of abuse within these establishments, it will not escape a regular inspection by the authorities. Enough to keep the pressure on for a while when many shareholders have already thrown in the towel. Among the latter, many “ESG”-oriented investment funds that cannot afford to hold shares at the heart of such a scandal. Remains the speculative funds which are likely to throw themselves on the bargain because of the volatility.
