He then said he was panicked after hearing a noise. Without thinking, he allegedly shot several times in the direction of the bathroom, without checking who was behind the door. The investigation showed that the couple, who had been together for several months, were encountering many difficulties. So, the prosecutor had determined that Oscar Pistorius knowingly killed the young woman. During the trial, the first amputee athlete to have participated in a world championship for able-bodied people pleaded not guilty but still admitted to having shot several times in the direction of his partner who he thought was an intruder. He was then sentenced to five years in prison for “homicide” in 2014.. But a year later he was released.
