How to eliminate ants at home?

First of all, it is important to identify what these pests are attracted to. Make sure you don’t leave food lying around. For example, you can store it in airtight packaging such as glass jars. Also make sure that the surfaces in your kitchen are always clean. Then locate the anthill before taking action. Be careful, some insecticides and anti-parasitics for dogs containing Permethrin can kill your cat

1-Spray with white vinegar

Ants hate the smell of white vinegar. So don’t hesitate to spray it on your openings such as on the sills of your windows or on the bottom of your doors.

2- Plant lavender, peppermint or basil

The very powerful smell that these plants give off repels ants. So don’t hesitate to plant a few clumps in front of your front door or in your planters. You can also place a few branches in your interior near the places most frequented by ants. Don’t have a green thumb? Do not panic !

It is also possible to use essential oils. For example, you can mix five drops of lavender essential oil with half a liter of water then spray it on all your openings as well as at the entrance to your anthill.

3- Use coffee grounds

Don’t throw away the contents of your used coffee filters and capsules! In addition to being an ally for natural cleaning, coffee grounds are an excellent repellent against fleas and ants! To do this, simply place the ground coffee in a small container and position it near your anthill to dislodge its inhabitants.

4- Mix baking soda and sugar

To eliminate ants at home, it is also possible to use baking soda. This acidic white powder is indeed harmful to the organism of these insects. To encourage them to ingest it, mix a tablespoon of baking soda with a tablespoon of sugar. Place the mixture in a dish near the anthill and leave the device for a few days.

This fine white powder, composed of fossilized micro-algae fossils, is a natural and effective insecticide. At home, do not hesitate to sprinkle a little on the places where ants pass. The sharp particles of diatomaceous earth will cause fatal injuries to them. Please note, however, that this product can be used with bare hands and is not dangerous for pets.
You can get them online, in garden centers or even in organic stores.

6-Arrange a few slices of lemon at the entrance to the anthill

Ants hate lemon! So don’t hesitate to place a few slices of lemon in a dish or to spray them directly on the anthill. For greater efficiency, repeat the operation regularly.
