Out for 27-inch iMac: Waiting for the biggest iMac ever

APPLE

Things are looking bad around an iMac 27 inch with an M3 processor. Apple has rejected such plans in US media reports.

In addition to new MacBook Pro models, Apple has just introduced new iMacs with M3 processors. But there is still no trace of a 27-inch model.

Background: Since Apple turned its back on Intel and relied on self-developed M-series chips, the iMac has only been available with a 24-inch display. Things were different in the “Intel era”. In addition to a 21.5-inch version, the manufacturer from Cupertino also offered an iMac with a 27-inch diagonal.

The iPhone inventor now tells the US magazine The Verge that there will be no M version of the iMac 27 inch either. The combination of Mac Studio or Mac Mini with the Studio Display is listed as an alternative.

Hoping for a 32-inch iMac

The fact that Apple is ruling out a 27.5-inch iMac for the time being doesn’t mean that there won’t be a large iMac with an M chipset in the foreseeable future. Because rumors about an iMac with a 32-inch display persist.

Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman, for example, sees “the largest iMac of all time” in 2024 or 2025.
