While he was still unknown to the battalion a few weeks ago, Vampire Survivors has recently become a real phenomenon on Steam, as on Twitch.
The least we can say is that the early access release of Vampire Survivors on Steam last December went completely unnoticed. It must be said that at first glance, it was just one indie game among many others.
With its retro graphics and minimalist gameplay, this rogue-lite didn’t really seem destined to stand out, and yet. Overnight, Vampire Survivors has become THE game of the moment. From a handful of players when it was released, the rogue-lite now has thousands of followers.
Vampire Survivors have made it to the top on Twitch.
Extremely positive ratings are soaring on Steam, while the game has around 50,000 viewers on Twitch every day.
The recipe for this success ? Infinite replayability, games that follow each other without ever looking alike, varied characters and improvements galore. Not to mention of course a very attractive price since it is offered at € 2.49.
Crowd-Winning Gameplay
In this openly Castlevania-inspired rogue-lite, players must repel waves of adversaries that literally invade the screen continuously. At each level-up it is possible to improve its arsenal, in order to overcome the enemies that continue to flow.
Where things get tricky is that it is only possible to manage travel. The attacks are automatic. Intoxicated by the sense of accomplishment specific to rogue-lite, as well as by its most atypical recipe, players continue to flock to Vampire Survivors, while the game is still only in early access, which promises him a bright future.
The least we can say is that the independent scene is more than ever on the rise. The triple A’s just have to watch out!
