Outer Wilds unveils a collector’s edition that fans will snap up

Outer Wilds, one of the biggest independent gems of recent years, will soon be offering a sumptuous collector’s edition. But there is a catch.

If you don’t know it, go watch Outer Wilds. Yes yes, there, right away. All joking aside, it’s truly a video game experience that you can only have once. We will avoid going into details, but if you don’t have confidence, take a closer look at the opinions on the game. You will quickly see that it has a rather monstrous success. In any case, recently, the fans’ dream came true: a physical edition was revealed in broad daylight. And now, we are presented with the collector’s version, which will make you drool. However, this may leave some disappointed.

Outer Wilds is getting a collector’s edition, but…

Remember, iam8bit prepares Outer Wilds: Archaeologist Edition, in collaboration with Annapurna Interactive and Mobius Digital. A boxed version of the game on Nintendo Switch and PS5, with little surprises waiting for you. In fact, there are two different editions. The first is Retail, available on June 27 and which is the least expensive of the lot. It includes the base title, its DLC, Echoes of the Eye, and a fold-out planetary map poster. The latter was created by the studio’s conceptual artist, Ian Jacobson. That’s already not bad, but wait until you see the Collector which will be deployed in the third quarter of 2024.

This includes beautiful objects, starting with a beautiful travel bag. There’s also a sumptuous explorer’s journal, 7 patches in the colors of the Outer Wilds planets, and even Chert’s bandana. But that’s not all. We also get an Eye of the Universe clasp, a special game pouch, and a bonus item “from a doomed timeline.” All this is sold for the sum of 99.99 dollars. The problem is that at the moment, this Collector obviously does not have a French version. You can pre-order it now, but keep this information in mind.
