- Over half of the employees at the Bern regional prison have resigned since June 2022.
- Those affected could not come to terms with the new organizational regime.
- “The Federal Government” quotes former employees.
Olivier Aebischer, head of communications in the Bern Department of Corrections, confirmed to the Keystone-SDA news agency the number of departures published in the Bernese “Bund”: 33 out of a total of 60 employees, including two retirements.
“The Bund” quoted former employees anonymously. Accordingly, the excessive tightening of prison conditions is the reason for the mass termination. The new organizational regime was introduced after a prison break in the summer of 2022.
Aebischer did not want to comment directly on this. The regional prison needed organizational development. This led to conflicts, dissatisfaction and terminations, he said.
Aebischer denied that there had been a general tightening of conditions in the prison. Finally, he pointed out that staff satisfaction had increased significantly in the meantime.
