Overwatch 2: Players Forced To Buy Skins Due To Bug

A bug in Blizzard’s shooter text chat forces players to buy random skins… and the publisher won’t refund them.

While the game release was accompanied by many problems, a new bug makes Blizzard react. This bug was described by user Dracyoshi on Reddit. He recounted his misadventure on the Overwatch 2 subreddit. Dracyoshi says he lost 300 credits by chatting with one of his contacts via the game’s text chat while he was in the hero gallery. Other users say they lost 1900 credits in legendary skins that they hadn’t asked for. This bug would be related to the fact that the game continues to record keyboard commands while users are chatting in writing.

Several messages regarding this bug have been posted on the Overwatch 2 “Bug Report” forum at the time of the beta phase, a few months ago. A member of the development team finally answered questions regarding this bug:

” […] After verification, we are unable to offer refunds or compensation for unlocks made with in-game currency in Overwatch. All these releases (note: purchases) are supposed to be final. If you think an in-game issue is causing this bug, please let us know on our forums if you haven’t already. I know that’s not the answer you were hoping for […]. »

The answer obviously disappointed the players who just have to be careful to avoid losing more money.
