Overwatch 2: Ramattra, our first impressions – Overwatch 2

First of all, we would like to remind you that our opinion is subjective and under a novice eye. In order to give you the maximum of ideas as for the use of this new tank, do not hesitate to confront the articles which relate to it. As a reminder, Ramattra will be available on Overwatch 2at the same time as Season 2, i.e. this December 6, 2022.

Ramattra, new tank

Thanks to the presentation video, which you will find below, we learn that Ramattra can take two distinct forms : “Nemesis” and “Omniac”. Depending on the one selected, the character’s attacks vary, therefore.

In order to avoid a simple paraphrase, here are the skills as they are announced in game. This completes the information we already have in relation to the versatility of the champion. Note that skill effects are identified under each form.

Finally, before getting to the heart of the matter, it is important to note that Ramattra does not have enhanced mobility, superior jump, flight or otherwise and despite his appearance, he remains a rather slow characterwhatever its form.

Our impressions in defense

Affiliated to tank rank, Ramattra has a very large defensive panel which could be likened to a merger between Doomfist and Orisa. However, in opposition to the latter, although he has armor and a substantial number of hit points, his lack of mobility or control will prevent him from being effective against a wave of enemies. Very quickly cornered by a single-target shield and an E that slightly slows opponents, Ramattra will find itself in difficulty to withstand a frontal attack that is too brutal. In addition, if his Nemesis form is very useful on the offensive by bypassing enemy shields, the impact is lessened during defense.

Ramattra has a basic attack Omniac mode much more impressive in form than in substance. Indeed, if the hundred projectiles make it possible to harass opponents and/or shields, you will need to stack a certain amount of critical damage before you can hope to take down an opposing player. In fact, his attack represents a constant aggression making it possible to keep the pressure on without becoming intrusive.

Our impression in attack

In our view, this is where the hero takes on its full meaning. Although it lacks mobility and does not haveno speed boost and/or ability to heal, its passive resistance and in nemesis form are not to be taken lightly. Thus, he can easily settle in the front line or allow himself to protect the weaker heroes and in grip with mobile, flying characters or simply equipped with shields.

His Omniac form, like defense, helps keep a constant level of pressure so opponents are almost forced to keep you in sight. When an opportunity arises, Ramattra can break through a solid defense or even push a Reinhart into a corner.

Of course, that doesn’t make Ramattra an unstoppable character, he will need help to hope to shine on a good attack, but with good teammates, he can quickly become a purge for his opponents who will no longer know where to turn. As a bonus, if he is surrounded or behind enemy lines, his ultimate allows cause damage over time while continuing to hammer the supporting characters for which no shield can help.

Small flat on the heroes receiving a little too much care. While his Nemesis Form hits are armor-piercing and have good out-of-ammo damage, the hits are slow enough to let a strong support handle the defense.
