Overwatch 2 Servers: This Is The Real Reason For The Disastrous State Of The Servers!

At the launch of a free-to-play game as expected as Overwatch 2, we could only expect that the servers would be overloaded. Unfortunately, Blizzard’s FPS is currently experiencing many connection errors and other bugs that are making players angry: loss of progress from the previous opus, inability to receive the security SMS, endless queues… The beginning of OW2 is very unpleasant for the majority of players but the developers are doing everything possible to try to optimize the servers.

If you’re having a problem trying to launch Overwatch 2, you’re not alone. Whether it is connecting to the game or deleting your data, it is mainly caused by the instability of the servers. In order to keep you informed of server status, a dedicated article is available below. It is regularly updated and offers specific solutions for the security SMS bug (which some never receive) for example.

It was to be expected, the Overwatch 2 game servers are overloaded and the queues endless. Connection failures, security sms not being sent, lost progress… Free-to-play is currently suffering from many bugs that prevent you from playing.

DDOS attacks overload the servers!

If the number of players is obviously in question regarding the catastrophic state of the Overwatch 2 servers, Mike Ybarrathe president of Blizzard, has just ruled on his Twitter account that multiple Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks were the main cause of their unavailability.

The teams are currently investigating to try to prevent these attacks as quickly as possible. Translation of the tweet in French: “Teams are working hard on Overwatch 2 server issues. We are touched by the enthusiasm of players and will continue to focus on fixing the issues so players can have fun! Thank you for your patience. Unfortunately, we We’re experiencing a massive DDoS attack on our servers. The teams are working hard to mitigate and manage it. It’s causing a lot of connection issues.”

To put it simply, this means that in addition to the mass of players wanting to launch Overwatch 2 to test the new features, a group of people (using bots) are currently targeting the servers on purpose to overload them. In general, this act makes it possible to make a site or a service unavailable for an indefinite period in order to make a company lose money or to ask it to stop the nightmare.
